What Is Cannabis CBD?
Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a naturally occurring chemical compound found in the cannabis plant. It is one of over 100 cannabinoids found in the plant. Unlike THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), another major cannabinoid in cannabis, CBD does not produce a “high” or intoxication when consumed, as it is non-psychoactive.
CBD has gained a lot of attention in recent years for its potential therapeutic benefits, and it is believed to interact with the body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS), a complex system of receptors and neurotransmitters that helps regulate various physiological processes, such as pain, inflammation, mood, and sleep.
CBD is available in various forms, including oils, tinctures, capsules, gummies, topicals, and more. It can be extracted from the cannabis plant using various methods, including CO2 extraction, ethanol extraction, and oil extraction.
It’s worth noting that the legal status of CBD varies depending on the country and state/province. In some places, CBD is legal for medical or recreational use, while in others it is strictly regulated or illegal. Before using CBD, it’s important to research the laws in your area and to consult with a healthcare professional, particularly if you are taking other medications or have a history of substance abuse or mental health issues.
