What Is Cannabigerol (CBG)?
Cannabigerol (CBG) is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in the cannabis plant. It is a precursor to other cannabinoids, including THC and CBD, and is considered one of the “minor cannabinoids” because it is found in relatively low concentrations in the plant.
CBG is produced by the cannabis plant through a process called biosynthesis, in which a compound called cannabigerolic acid (CBGA) is converted into various cannabinoids, including THC, CBD, and CBC (cannabichromene). Depending on the plant’s genetics, environmental factors, and other variables, the plant may produce higher or lower levels of CBG.
CBG is available in various forms, including oils, capsules, and topicals. While it is generally considered safe, more research is needed to fully understand its potential health benefits and to determine appropriate dosages. Additionally, the legal status of CBG varies depending on the country and state/province, so it’s important to research the laws in your area before using CBG.
