High Stress Training Cannabis Plants (HST)
High Stress Training (HST) is a cannabis cultivation technique used to manipulate the growth of the plant by causing stress to it. This stress is intended to trigger a survival response in the plant that encourages it to grow more buds and flowers. By stressing the plant in the right way, cultivators can increase their yields and create more potent and desirable buds.
HST methods involve intentionally damaging the plant in various ways. The idea is to create a controlled amount of stress that will stimulate the plant to grow more buds, without causing it so much stress that it becomes unhealthy or dies.
Here are some common high stress training methods used in cannabis cultivation:

Topping
This involves cutting off the top of the main stem, which encourages the plant to grow multiple colas (top buds). This is usually done when the plant is still young, and is only topped once or twice to avoid too much stress.
FIMming
FIMming stands for “Fuck, I Missed” and is a variation of topping. Instead of cutting off the entire top, you cut off just the tip of the main stem, leaving a few small leaves. This encourages the plant to grow more colas, and is less stressful than topping.
Super Cropping

This involves bending the stems of the plant at strategic points to create more colas and increase bud density. The idea is to cause a small amount of damage to the stem, which the plant then repairs by creating more growth.

Lollipopping
This involves removing the lower branches and leaves of the plant to create a more open canopy and focus growth on the upper colas. This helps to direct the plant’s energy towards producing bigger buds.

SCROG
SCROG stands for “Screen of Green” and involves using a screen or mesh to create a horizontal canopy that the plant is trained to grow through. This technique helps to create an even canopy and maximize light exposure for all of the buds.
Defoliation
This involves removing some of the leaves from the plant to increase light exposure to the buds and improve air circulation. This can also help to reduce the risk of mold and other diseases.
These are just a few examples of the high stress training techniques that can be used in cannabis cultivation. When done correctly, these methods can increase yields and improve the quality of the buds, but it’s important to remember that too much stress can be harmful to the plant. As with any cultivation technique, it’s important to understand the needs of the plant and use high stress training methods carefully and responsibly.
